We’re incredibly saddened to report that sections of the Overland Track have been affected by a bushfire near Canning Peak and our beloved Pine Forest Moor Hut was burnt. We are in close contact with the Tasmania Parks & Wildlife Service (TPWS) and Tasmania Fire Service and can confirm that track repair works have begun, and TPWS remain confident the Overland Track will reopen as scheduled on Monday 24 February.

If you have an upcoming trip booked for the current walking season on the Overland Track, we can confirm that your Cradle Mountain walk is going ahead with a slightly adjusted itinerary for day 3 and 4.
