Walk departure locations in Tasmania
If you are departing on a Cradle Mountain or Bay of Fires trip, your walk will depart from our northern walker base in Hadspen, Red Feather Inn. Only ten minutes out of Launceston and a 15 minute drive from the Launceston Airport, your bus drivers and guides will be ready and waiting to meet you. We encourage all of our guests to stay at Red Feather Inn the night before you depart on your walk. The historic inn is a comfortable and convenient accommodation option which means you’ll wake up at your walk departure point, ready to go after a complimentary breakfast.

For those who will be departing from Hobart in the south of the state, there is an abundance of luxury and budget hotels that can accommodate you the night before your walk. Our walker base and departure point for most of our southern walks is conveniently located at 164 Murray Street, which means you’ll be in walking distance of popular city stays, or just a short car ride away. Originally built in 1842, the Red Feather Inn has been carefully restored to highlight it's natural features.

Conviniently situated in Hobart's CBD, the space is now home to the Tasmanian Walking Company's southern staff and is used a departure point for most of our southern walks.

The Tasmanian Walking Company team inhabits heritage listed Chalmers Church as a head office that provides a creative and vibrant working environment. A convict-built landmark that was constructed over 163 years ago, Chalmers was thoughtfully restored into a functional open-plan office in 2014, staying true to the gothic revival architecture that makes this building so unique.
